Graduate Studies Executive Council

The membership of the Executive Council is representative of the graduate faculty on KU’s Lawrence Campus. One member from each of the professional schools and one from each of the four divisions of the College are appointed to staggered three-year terms, with nomination and selection within the representative's school/College. The initial Council was selected by the associate deans of each of the schools and the College. The council’s charges for 2008-09 include:

• Review, revise, and update Graduate Studies policy as needed;
• Review and approve new graduate degree and certificate program proposals;
• Advise the Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies in various areas, including (but not confined to):
  • Scholarship disbursal
  • Graduate Student professional development programming
  • Application and admissions processing
  • Progress toward degree communication and data collection
  • Program review and assessment procedures
